week 52 / 2025: minimum viable
Bare bones from the skeleton crew.
“And I know I was wrong / when I said it was true / that it couldn’t be me and be her in between / without you…”
Greetings from the inbetween days, during which most of you are probably not reading substantive messages from the internet, and I am finding a freshly cracked molar to be a significant distraction from writing one.
Which is to say: this is minimum viable weeknotes, a skeleton-crew episode with no additional content beyond the work ledger. I’ll be back on the horse in the new year.
In the meantime, I would like to thank those of you who’ve been reading along, and to ask you a question: what futures-adjacent issue or idea would you like to see me write about in the coming year?
I’ve been pestering friends and colleagues for essay topics to work on in 2026, and had some great suggestions—but I’d be glad to get more from you, the loyal, die-hard Worldbuilding massive. Just hit reply, if you’re receiving the email version; otherwise feel free to leave a comment on this post on the site proper, or to email directly.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest of Null Week, and allow me to wish you a happy new year in advance.
ticked off
I had various worthy, productive and foresightful plans for this week, but when confronted with the reality of seven days devoid of externally imposed deadlines or incoming enquiries, my unconscious instructed me with unusual clarity that what I actually needed to do was read novels, hang out quietly with friends, and get a truly shocking amount of sleep.
- Five hours of admyn.
- Five hours of reading for research.
- Four hours of fiction writing.
- Two hours of non-fiction writing.
- Two hours of styrelsen admyn (because a sysadmyn’s work never ends, even when most of it is essentially translational and/or instructional).
- Ten hours of undirected writing and reading, as always.
Zero regrets.
That’s all, folks. Again, have a happy new year—and I hope all is well with you, wherever you may be.
